Scott McLaughlin and Robert Dahlgren’s arctic adventure

Flew up to Luleå in the north of Sweden together with femti5 and Dejan Sokolovski to meet up with Robert Dahlgren and Scott McLaughlin(V8Supercar drivers) for a 4 day shoot with the Volvo Polestar S60.

Volvo and Polestar recently entered the v8 supercars series and signed up Scotty for their team. The idea was to introduce Scott to the swedish scene and show him his “new” country both way up north where the testing takes place and also in the
volvo factory and polestar hq in gothenburg.

Started off with a nightshoot in the middle of nowhere, nature, arcticchill, 4 snowmobiles and 2 jetlagged drivers.
Serious focusing issues in -15 degrees temeperatures. Funny how cameras act in the cold. Fun shoot though.

Followed up with 2 days in glorious weather on a frozen lake. We got some really nice clips for both the film but also some clips that will be used for promo purposes for Volvo and Polestar. Mainly using the 300mm and slowmotion on the fs700. Also a improvised incar setup to get some fairly stable shots out of the front window.

Last day we flew down to Gothenburg for a volvo factory tour, a visit to Polestar HQ, Gothenburg City Arena and the Volvo windtunnel.

The footage resulted in 7 days of gruelling editing and ended up being 2 films. One teaser and one 4 minute film that viewed on Channel 7 in Australia in front of a couple million viewers.

All in all a great experience.
Big thanks to Polestar, femti5 and the talented Robban and Scotty best of luck to you in the 2014 V8 Supercars season you deserve podium finishes all year.
And a huge thanks to Dejan Sokolovski for taking both behind the scenes and also amazing promo shots of the s60. All the great shots seen above are his, the crappy ones are mine.
